In his exhibition held in the Presidential Lounge of the Trade Fair Palace, Renaud Jerez presents blue, red, and white carpet installation. This intervention creates a framework in which new works are shown including, life size sand sculptures, baby clothes, a cushion-eye, few paintings, tie-dye patchworks, some bats and a redesigned Baudelaire poetry.
Issuing Nationalistic pride, sexual desire, fishing, incarceration and romanticism, this installation frames contemporary fears, pains, and global networks.
Renaud regards understanding the reasons behind the artist's choices as more important than trying to define the contents behind the already existing forms. He creates his weird figures in a radically ingenuous way, exchanging future for past and using both virtual and real images, naturalistic and abstract forms. His ravaged warriors, rioters and slackers, often set in their own environment – their “dwellings and dens” – constitute apocalyptic images of the world and metaphoric visions of its future. (…)
