Sozanský's work has, on occasion, looked at the Veletržní Palace as a potential carrier of many meanings. In 1984, the torso of the house, which had just begun to be repaired, became the background for his series The Year of Orwell, and in the 1990s, it served for his response to the situation after the Velvet Revolution. The installation, also a reminder of the 25th anniversary of this revolution, will present large-format paintings, sculptures, videos, interpreted photographs and more. This exhibition, i.e. Sozanský's interpretation of the Veletržní Palace (or its torso), is a kind of artistic culmination of the entire project dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Veletržní Palace fire.
The project will be accompanied by a number of programs, such as a screening of 1980s films by students of the Prague Film School (FAMU), morning discussions, meetings with historians etc. A companion book will be published by the Symposion Association and the KANT publishing house.
