The
fourth edition of the Biennale Matter of Art presents art as a necessity that
our society cannot do without. The three-month exhibition and accompanying
program, subtitled Necessary Wishes, will take place from June 12 to
September 13, 2026, at the National Gallery Prague – Trade Fair Palace, GAMPA –
City Gallery Pardubice, and the Tusculum Prague art center. The biennale will
feature more than thirty artists and collectives from Czechia, Poland, Ukraine,
Georgia, Palestine, Slovakia, and other countries, including six new projects
commissioned by the biennale and created by artists Noor Abed, David Apakidze,
Yana Bachynska (a.k.a. Jan Bačynsjkyj), Adrián Kriška, Aliza Orlan, and Tadamun
Kolektiv. The project is cocurated by Jaroslava Tomanová, Jakub Gawkowski, and
František Fekete. Admission to the exhibition and accompanying events is free
of charge. The biennale is organized by tranzit.cz in cooperation with the
National Gallery Prague and GAMPA – City Gallery Pardubice. The main partner of
