Viktor
Oliva (1861–1928) was one of the leading figures on the Czech art scene, particularly
in the 1880s and 1890s. His creative focus lay in drawing and applied graphic
art – alongside book and magazine illustrations and designs for book bindings and
posters, he also made his mark as editor of the art section of the journal Zlatá
Praha. This display presents a small selection from Oliva’s rich graphic
oeuvre, where a fluid hand meets Art Nouveau stylisation.
