The Czech and Slovak Pavilion in Venice and This Year’s Architecture Biennale
Based on the negotiations held in 2023, the Czech Republic, represented by the National Gallery Prague, and Slovakia, represented by the Slovak National Gallery, agreed that, in view of the preparations for the pavilion’s reconstruction, the pavilion would not be available for use for the presentation at the 2025 Architecture Biennale. Both parties agreed that the main priority was to begin the first phase of the reconstruction and to prepare the pavilion for the joint presentation in 2026.
Preparatory work for the reconstruction is currently under way in the pavilion, with the reconstruction itself scheduled to begin at the end of November 2025.
The National Gallery Prague receives a regular contribution from the Ministry of Culture for the operation of the pavilion. This contribution is part of its standard annual operating budget and therefore does not constitute any special subsidy. The National Gallery Prague is entitled to financial support for the realisation of an exhibition only if the exhibition takes place. We will apply for a contribution towards the realisation of the exhibition again next year.
