The Minister of Culture has decided to dismiss General Director Alicja Knast, who led the institution from 2021 to 2026.
During her time in office, the institution has systematically developed its collection, exhibition, and educational activities; increased visitor numbers; deepened international collaboration; launched a major investment project—the construction of a new storage facility; and made significant strides in the digitisation of its collections. The National Gallery Prague has thus further consolidated its position as a respected cultural institution.
This work will continue under the leadership of Olga Kotková, Director of the Collection of Old Masters, who will serve as General Director until a formal selection process is completed.
We thank Alicja Knast for her service and her contribution to the development of the National Gallery Prague over the past years, and we wish Olga Kotková the very best in her new role.
