About the workshop Box Only for One Thing
What would you store in a sacred box? In a reliquary? Let’s decorate, embellish, and beautify a box for a small treasure. At the same time, we will create a collective reliquary from what the house provides. You will be inspired by reliquaries not only from the exhibition at the Convent of St Agnes of Bohemia.
About the Lecture The Madonna of Havraň and Woodcarving in the Third Quarter of the 14th CenturyIn the spring of 2022, the National Gallery in Prague acquired a sculpture of the Madonna on an angelic throne, named the Madonna of Havraň after the place where it was discovered. Based on its formal characteristics, the work can be classified among a group of enthroned Madonnas from the third quarter of the 14th century (including the Madonna of Hrádek near Benešov, the Madonna of Bečov, the Madonna of Konopiště, and others). The sculpture likely originates from the court circle of Emperor Charles IV and presents an innovative — and possibly unique — interpretation of Marian iconography. In her lecture, Adéla Pavlíčková, curator of the Old Masters Collection, will offer an in-depth presentation of the artwork and place it within the artistic, iconographic, and patronage contexts of its time.
About the performance shYfted wOrld?
In the spaces of the Convent of St Agnes of Bohemia, several remarkable beings have taken up residence. Their bodies and movements resemble those of humans, but their heads take on various geometric shapes. Each being is inhabited by a symbiont—a creature or plant that propels its existence forward in time and space. How far from our world? In the site-specific performative installation 'shYfted wOrld,' you can encounter a research mantis, a fusion studying a herbarium, an anxious scribe, or meditating gardeners. The boundaries between the human world of the monastery and the non-human worlds of plants, animals, and objects blur here. Historical monastic life intertwines with futuristic worlds beyond humanity.
About the artistic collective tYhle
We are an international collective of artists who combine performative art, dance, physical theater, clowning, and other forms of art in our work. We focus on experimenting with imagination, everyday life, humor, identity, and society. The letter Y in our name symbolizes a crossroads—a place where we can meet, make decisions, and move forward together. It represents the intersection of various inspirations, perspectives, opinions, and ideas from which we create. The tYhle collective was founded in Brno in 2015 by performers Lukáš Karásek and Florent Golfier-Brechmann. They were later joined by lighting designer Zuzana Režná and set designer and choreographer Marie Gourdain. In 2025, dramaturg Jakub Liška joined the collective. Currently, tYhle is based in Prague and presents its projects in the Czech Republic and abroad.
Performance shYfted wOrld is part of the DanceConnected Galerie v pohybu project.
