NOTICE FOR RESEARCHERS
We would like to inform you that from 15 October to 14 November 2025, the Archive of the National Gallery located in Schwarzenberg Palace will be closed due to technical reasons.
The archive office in the Trade Fair Palace (Veletržní palác) will remain open during this period. However, please note that archival materials cannot be transferred between the two buildings.
We kindly ask you to plan your research activities accordingly. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to welcoming you again after the reopening.
ABOUT THE ARCHIVE
The Archive of the National Gallery Prague is a specialised professional unit dedicated to procuring, processing, protecting, and making accessible archival material documenting the development of the fine arts. The Archive collects documents created in the National Gallery Prague and its legal predecessors (Society of Patriotic Friends of the Arts, Fine Arts Association in Bohemia, Modern Gallery, Czech-Moravian Land Gallery), as well as documents of deceased artists, collectors, historians, theoreticians, and art critics. The Archive manages over 160 such personal legacies. The Archive also publishes the Art in the Archive book series, which uses the imprint format to provide access to select archival materials.
The NGP Archive comprises two departments: the first one manages the funds of the National Gallery Prague, its predecessors, and personal funds in the Schwarzenberg Palace. In the Trade Fair Palace, the second one administers collections of posters, exhibition catalogues, photographs, cuttings, and documents pertaining to NGP exhibitions from 1945 to this day.
