This Cabinet presents the drawings of Antonín Mánes (1784–1843), a major figure in the Czech landscape school of the nineteenth century and a pioneer of plein-art painting. His works range from composed ideal landscapes rooted in the Classicist style, to Romantic compositions depicting medieval castles and ruins, storms, and raging winds, to masterful watercolours created during plein-air study.
