Performance artist Ursula Sereghy presents a work that intertwines an introspective narrative with disruptive brass interventions, whose sounds evoke sirens. In the interplay between acoustic and electronic sound elements, the performance explores the theme of transgenerational dialogue—an intimate inner experience intertwined with echoes of past events, often mediated through the memories of previous generations. The work is loosely inspired by Aleš Veselý’s late-1950s depictions of trumpeters, as well as by Sereghy’s personal experience playing brass instruments within the artistic ensemble Šmidři.
Visually, the performance emphasizes absence and anonymity: the performers appear faceless, as anonymous figures suspended between audible presence and the invisibility of the body.
Ursula Sereghy is a Prague-based multi-instrumentalist and producer. With roots in jazz, she spent many years performing in live bands before dedicating herself fully to solo work during the COVID-19 lockdown. Today, she is a prominent figure in the Central European electronic music scene. Her album OK Box has been featured in numerous year-end charts, and several of her mixtapes have been broadcast on NTS Radio. She is part of the Prague Synth Library and will release the EP Cordial on the Polish label Mondoj, as well as the EP Unlock on the domestic label Gin&Platonic in 2025.
Resonating Around performance is part of the ongoing exhibition Aleš Veselý: Retrospective – Alešville, curated by Monika Čejková. The performance concept loosely responds to the exhibition, providing both an updating and an expanding dimension.
