The dragon is a prominent symbol in East-Asian culture. It embodies positive (yang) energy and creative force. This is why it was chosen as the symbol of this exhibition in three exhibition halls of Kinsky Palace, presenting work by contemporary Czech and East-Asian artists residing in the Czech Republic who find inspiration in early East-Asian art and contemporary Japanese pop culture.
Tying in with the exhibition at Kinsky Palace Stable, the visitor will find several art interventions in the permanent Art of Asia exhibition on the first floor of Kinsky Palace that are direct responses to or are loosely inspired by individual works that are part of the permanent exhibition.
The exhibition room on the second floor of Kinsky Palace is the site of a group installation, which is essentially a humorous replica of the typical ‘oriental’ salons found in many Czech chateaux and palaces.
