Originally from Montana, USA, Megan Clark (b. 1989) has spent the past year studying Intermedia at The Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague (UMPRUM). Before moving to the Czech Republic, Clark received her Bachelor of Fine Art at Montana State University with a focus in Sculpture/Installation. In 2015 she was nominated for the Joan Mitchell Foundation Emerging Artists Grant. Her recent work has been presented in group exhibitions including Ne tak daleko, jak to vypadá / Not as far as it seems in Villa P651 (Prague), Exit in Galerie NTK (Prague), and Recliner, Reclined in The Foreground Gallery (Montana). Currently, she is enrolled in the MFA program at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland.
Clark’s practice is the result of quiet observation and thoughtful introspection, which generally produces very intimate and sensitive work. She is interested in using irrational means to explore obscure elements of presence and existence, which tend to be well beyond (or beneath) the visual. This open approach to perception lends her work naturally to a practice rooted in critical investigation and experimentation, rather than to resolute medium specificity. Her most recent works have involved the ‘use’ of breath and shifts in temperature as primary ‘media’. The nature of her manner of working also lends itself to a further questioning of the role and context of art in the ever-accelerating centralization and monetization of the Art World.
Jimena Mendoza (b. 1979) is a Mexican artist. She studied Fine Arts in La Esmeralda, Mexico City; a specialization in Art- Space, Decorative Arts-ENSAD in Paris; Master Program in Visual Arts in UMPRUM, Prague.
