Guided Tour in English with Alexandra Brabcova
Entry: 180 CZK / 150 CZK
Come to hear the story of St. Agnes of Bohemia – a princess who refused royal marriages to live a holy life and become a patron saint of her nation. See the rooms where she spoke to the Prague community of the Poor Clares, prayed and wrote letters to Popes.
Thereafter, you will see great works of art commissioned by Emperor Charles IV and his contemporaries, such as panel paintings by Master Theodoric created for the splendid Karlštejn Castle or the Votive Panel of Archbishop Jan Očko of Vlašim where Charles IV is portrayed kneeling before the Virgin Mary. The tour will also present fine examples of the International Gothic style created in the Czech lands in the late 14th century, as well as paintings influenced by the religious reform movement and by the new trends in European art in the 15th century.
