The Echoes of Generosity

To echo the exhibition Generosity. The Art of Giving held to commemorate the 220th anniversary of its existence the National Gallery in Prague prepared a presentation of several works of modern art from prestigious private collections that are on display in the permanent exhibitions of the Fair Trade Palace from June 2016 until the beginning of 2017.

The Echoes of Generosity aim to honour and acknowledge the private collectors whose generosity has so many times enriched the collections of the National Gallery with significant works of art, be they gifts or long term loans.

Thanks to this intervention, works by Toyen, Jindřich Štyrský, Josef Šíma, Josef Čapek, Květa Válová, Mikuláš Medek, Victor Vasarely, Zdeněk Sýkora, Jan Kubíček, and Richard Avedon were added to the permanent exhibitions.

The National Gallery in Prague wishes to thank PPF a.s.; The Pudil Family Foundation; Otakar Štorch Marien Collection; Světlík Art Foundation; Galerie Zlatá Husa and others for their loans.
