A representative publication of the National Gallery in Prague presents a selection of 50 of the most important works from the abundant holdings of the Collection of Old Masters, starting from Antiquity, ending with Goya. Each of the reproduced artworks accompanied with an entry is a sufficient proof of its artist’s mastery and of the exceptional character of this collection. The introductory text is devoted to the architecture of Sternberg Palace and to the history of the Collection of Old Masters. The book was conceived so as to contribute to the attractiveness of the earliest seat of the National Gallery in Prague.
