Lucie Svobodová: Maxwell’s Equation

Date: 01.10.2014 - 11.01.2015
Place: Trade Fair Palace

Other possibilities of paintings.
Seven abstract paintings and a multimedia installation challenge the permanent exhibition Czech Modernism II. The Veletržní Palace architecture provides an ideal setting for a confrontation between intuitively or geometrically created paintings dating from the 1930s and contemporary works in the form of dialogues between artist and computer. Only the latest technologies make it possible to create a calculus with feedback as a background for creating a painting. As Professor Miroslav Petříček, a Czech philosopher, wrote: "The canvas is a virtual field and the virtual field is a canvas."
The exhibition will feature a number of programs, lectures and screenings with themes combining technology, mathematics and art. An illustrated book will be published with the assistance of the Visual Unity Society to accompany the exhibition.
