The National Gallery and KomiksFEST! present Thomas Ott, a Swiss artist and comic book author. The Small Hall of the Exhibition Palace will exhibit his collection of pictures of a mafia family, La grande famiglia, dozens of comic book pages (R.I.P., Dark Country) and pictures of deformed, dissected bodies. Both Ott's stories and independent works are linked by the theme of classic horror. This is also reflected in the scratchboard technique that made him famous. It is based on scratching off the black upper surface of double-layer paper to reveal the white background. His laborious, realistic, yet uncomfortably "different" visuality almost doesn't need words. Ott thus discovers mastery in apparent simplicity. The exhibition is complemented by the limited edition set of pictures L'affiche Strapazin from the major German-language comic magazine.
