The National Gallery in Prague's Horse Stable Gallery presents the lesser-known work of painter and poet František Kaván (1866-1941) done in the brief but intense period of the second half of the 1890s. His symbolist and decadent landscapes are linked with his poetry; he abandoned his study of the Mařák school at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and embraced the atmosphere of the decadents associated with Moderní revue magazine, e.g. Karel Hlaváček, Arnošt Procházka and others.
