The Polemics of Miloš Jiránek
- Place: Kinský Palace (Contacts)
- Date: 04.11.2011 - 29.01.2012
- Type: Exhibition
The exhibition The Polemics of Miloš Jiránek presents the National Gallery in Prague's collection of the artist's work to mark the 100th anniversary of his death. It commemorates this leading personality of the founding generation of Czech modern painting and a major figure in Prague's cultural life at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The exhibition is thematic rather than chronological, highlighting Jiránek's art polemics in terms of theme and his constant search and uncompromising fight. Jiránek's oeuvre is based on academic naturalism, but quickly moved toward an impressionism that he rendered in his own manner and that had a firm image structure.
