On the occasion of the 400^th anniversary of the death of Emperor Rudolf II, the National Gallery in Prague has prepared an exhibition of graphic art closely linked with the emperor and his court. Graphic art peaked in the second half of the 16^th century owing to improved copper engraving and etching techniques and to several major artists.

The exhibition presents 58 prints and books by major artists from the so-called Rudolfine circle, such as Hendrick Goltzius, Aegidius Sadeler, Lucas Kilian, Jan Muller and others who often worked after models by major contemporaries like Hans von Aachen, Bartolomeus Spranger, Roeland Savery and Adrian de Vries. Most of the artworks come from the National Gallery in Prague collections. The exhibition includes several loans from the National Library and a private collection.
