General director
Mr. Rösel was appointed as the General Director of the National Gallery in Prague by the Minister of Culture as of June 1st, 2011.
His affiliation with the National Gallery dates back to 1980 when had worked as a fine arts lecturer in the National Gallery's permanent collections until 1990. In 1989, Mr. Rösel was awarded an internship by the Solomon Guggenheim Foundation in the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy. After starting his career of an investment banker in London, he remained in contact with the National Gallery as an active member of the Society of Friends of the National Gallery in Prague.
In 1997-1999, Mr. Rösel served on the Supervisory Board of the Sue Ryder Foundation in Prague, Czech Republic, when re-developing a former convent into a charitable home for elderly people.
In 1991, he graduated with honours from the Prague School of Economics, majored in Finance and Banking with emphasis on International Capital Markets. Prior to his graduation, Mr. Rösel was awarded a study trip to the Princeton University in the USA.
After his graduation, Mr. Rösel, started his investment professional career with Bankers Trust in London, when working in the Global Mergers & Acquisitions department. Later on, he joined Fieldstone Private Capital Group, a New York based investment banking firm specialized in project finance and corporate finance advisory.
Mr. Rösel, was involved in numerous cross-border transactions in various countries including Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Greece, Egypt and with a special focus on the region of Central and Eastern Europe.
His experience includes also several restructuring assignments including among others an investment of the Swedish state company V&S Vin Sprit, where he was acting as the general manager, the sole executive and the supervisory board member.
In 2007-2008, Mr. Rösel worked at Babcock & Brown in Vienna, Austria, covering the investment fund's property investments mainly in Poland and the region of the Central and Eastern Europe.
Since 2009, Mr. Rösel, as an investment and asset manager had been in charge of a private equity fund focused on investments primarily in the Czech Republic.
Mr. Rösel is fluent in Czech, English and Russian, has a basic knowledge of Italian and Portuguese and a speaking knowledge of Slovak and Polish.
